Where Can I Get 24/7 Care for a Fracture or Hand Injury in Seoul?

Seoul Prime Hospital provides a 24-hour trauma care pathway for fractures, deep lacerations, hand injuries, crush injuries and complete or partial finger amputations. Orthopedic evaluation, diagnostic imaging and surgical review are coordinated according to the injury and the patient’s overall condition.

What should you do first?

If the patient is stable and the injury is limited to an arm, leg, hand or finger, call while preparing to travel. For loss of consciousness, breathing difficulty, uncontrolled major bleeding, head or torso injury, or multiple severe injuries, call 119 first.

When Should You Seek Emergency Assessment?

Call 119 first

  • Unconsciousness or breathing difficulty
  • Heavy bleeding that cannot be controlled
  • Head, neck, chest or abdominal injury
  • Multiple severe injuries or an unstable patient

Do not wait until morning

  • Exposed bone or obvious limb deformity
  • A finger is completely or partially amputated
  • The injured part is pale, blue, cold or numb
  • Deep wound with loss of movement or sensation

A small wound or reduced bleeding does not rule out damage to bone, tendons, nerves or blood vessels. Avoid repeatedly moving the injured part to test it.

Trauma Care by Injury Type

Fractures and Dislocations

Examination and imaging help identify alignment, joint involvement and whether splinting, reduction or surgery should be considered.

Deep Cuts and Crush Injuries

The wound is assessed together with circulation, sensation, movement, tendon function and possible bone or joint injury.

Finger Amputation

A completely detached part may require replantation assessment. A partly attached but bloodless finger may require revascularization assessment.

First Aid Before You Travel

Control bleeding

Apply steady direct pressure with clean gauze or cloth. If it soaks through, add more material without removing the first layer.

Protect the injury

Keep the injured part still in a comfortable position. Do not push exposed bone back in or remove tissue that remains attached.

Preserve an amputated part

Wrap it lightly in moist clean gauze, seal it in a waterproof bag, then place the bag in ice water for indirect cooling.

Do not place amputated tissue directly on ice or in water.
  • Do not freeze it or soak it in antiseptic.
  • Do not tie a rubber band, wire or cord tightly around the injury.
  • Bring every recovered tissue fragment, even if it appears small.

What Happens After You Arrive?

STEP 1 Vital signs and bleeding assessment
STEP 2 Circulation, sensation and movement check
STEP 3 Imaging and wound evaluation as needed
STEP 4 Splinting, wound care or surgical review

Arrival does not guarantee immediate surgery. The need and timing of treatment depend on the injury, the patient’s health, anesthesia assessment and the current availability of staff, imaging, operating rooms and beds.

Hospital-Based Evaluation and Surgical Support

Seoul Prime Hospital links orthopedic assessment with on-site imaging and surgical review for acute limb and hand trauma. Depending on medical need, evaluation may include X-ray, CT, MRI or musculoskeletal ultrasound. Operating microscopes and C-arm fluoroscopy support selected hand and fracture procedures.

Combined structural assessment

Bone, joint, skin, tendon, nerve and blood-vessel injuries are considered together rather than treating the visible wound alone.

Coordination for surgical safety

Orthopedics may coordinate with anesthesiology, internal medicine and radiology when the patient’s health or planned treatment requires it.

The availability of diagnostic or surgical equipment does not mean every injury requires surgery. A clinician determines the appropriate treatment after examination.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come directly after an accident?

If the patient is stable and the injury is limited to an arm, leg, hand or finger, call to check current acceptance and explain the injury. Call 119 first for an unstable patient, severe bleeding, head or torso injury, or multiple serious injuries.

Does 24-hour trauma care mean surgery will begin immediately?

No. A clinician first examines the patient and determines whether surgery is needed and when it should occur. Timing depends on the injury, overall health, anesthesia review and current hospital operations.

What should I bring as an international visitor?

Bring available photo identification, insurance information, medication and allergy details, and relevant medical records. If surgery may be needed, tell staff when you last ate or drank. Do not delay urgent assessment because you already consumed food or water.
